I’ve been working on a series of paintings inspired by meaningful memories and personal experiences. The images here show the progression of one I created just for myself, as a way to reconnect with the treasured feeling of spending time on my grandparents' back deck.
It was an emotional process. Both the people and the place are no longer part of my life in the way they once were. For those familiar with Spokane, this painting captures the land overlooking the Spokane River and the Bowl and Pitcher area.
The style and approach were a departure from how I’ve been working lately, but it felt therapeutic. It was a welcome shift to let nature provide the reference, rather than working purely from intuition. This piece has become a bittersweet window to the past, offering a quiet moment of connection to a place and time I still carry with me.
